    Stewart of the KRAG

So me and my brothers all grew up starting our hunting lives with a 1896 Kragicon from an uncle. I got my first Elk with it and 25 YRS ago my Oldest brother made me the keeper of this rifle when his boys were at a unpredictable point in their lives. With great pride and confidence i have passed the torch to his youngest son who has shown he will be a great Stewart. I truely hope he can take that old game getter and get a Deer or Elk with it. it still drives tacks better than most rifles i own.

I wish someone had made me the keeper of the Kragicon years ago. I had a rifle, carbine and school gun all but I'll bet that one has a better bore than two of those. Nice piece to have...lucky.

Me and all my 4 brothers killed our first big game with that rifle. Then we got our own rifle on our next birthday it was a cool tradition started by my father. We all had shotguns and 22`s before we were old enough to know we owned one. Also Thanks to Dad. But the Kragicon came from our favorite Uncle when he passed and we all loved it. The brothers are gone now and i am thankful my oldest brothers boy has shown the metal to take control and enjoy it now and we can keep it in the family. The serial # falls in between a group sent to ND National Guard but has no hit. But it is a strange coincidence that my Uncle bought it from a barrel in the local hardware store in Napoleon ND in 1947. That rifle started my collection. OH WELL NOW I HAVE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT. BOOHOO.

The second i posted this i saw my mistake and was waiting to see how long it took for that to be mentioned. Didn`t think it would matter enough to most to change. I knew it would only be a matter of time before you couldn`t help yourself.

Since I don't think we can edit the subject lines of threads, the only thing to do is to change your name to Stewart so it makes more sense. If I had such a nice Krag handed down to me, all my kids and grand kids would surely be named Stewart from here on.
Browning, I suppose if one bonded with their spouse over such a very nice Krag, the ensuing excitement could make the title a little less odd. I shall get mine out of the safe tonight and see if it works!

The last time i killed an animal with it was when i was 12 on a part of MT. ST. Helens that is no longer there now. The spot blew away 2 years latter. I have been a rifle collector but a Archer ever since i was 16. The brush of the coast range has been my best friend since the late 70s. I only hunt with a firearm now for waterfowl and upland birds. However i did take a nice cinnamon black bear from 1' away with my 1911 a couple years ago while bird hunting. Saw him coming tucked into a crack in the rocks and shot him in the ear as he walked by.
