P14 Rear Sight Identification

Got my 1st P14 and was doing some research to identify if the rear sight was a correct P14 rear sight. Found that the P14 rear sight has extra tics, pointed out in the photo below. My rear sight has the extra tics, except on the 16 marking. Anyone have any idea why? Is this a P14 rear sight?

If its an original it will have the serial # of the rifle, if its a add on from post manufacture it will have none. In either case it will measure 2.43 inches long.

If its from a Model 1917 it will be shorter ( 2.16 inches ) The 30 06 being flatter shooting. The two are interchangeable except that the aim will be off naturally from the different ladder settings.

The P14 is ranged to 1650 yds ( hence the additional 'click above the 16 )
The Model 1917 is ranged to 1600 yds and so no additional "click"

I think the one on the right with the arrows is a P 14 the one on the left is a 1917 fitted into a Remington ( from the R stamp in the photo )

Thanks for the info, took a look at mine (the one on the left) no serial # and it measured 2.19. So I it looks like a 1917 rear sight.

Just to clear up my understanding, I though that the 30-06 rear sights did not have the additional mark? My sight has the marks, but not on the 16.

So to have the extra mark at 1600 ( above it ) would be the mark for 1650 ( 303 ranged to 1650 as above).

If you put a P14 sight on a M1917 the ramp gets in the way of stripper clips too!
