    1943 Indian NWR No1 Mk2 bayonet?

    All,

I just picked this bayonet up and I would like help in properly identifying it. This is my first edged weapon, but I have a few Enfield's in my stewardship.

After looking in Mr. Skennertonicon's books I have here and a couple of websites, IMHO it might be an Indian Northwest Railroad made No1 Mk2. Please educate me as I know zip about bayonets.

Sorry for the quality of the pics as I am out of town on business an haven't even had my hands on it to clean it up yet.

Yes it's an Indian No. 1 Mk II*. The * means that it has a false edge.

Condition-wise, it reminds me of one of the Indian No.1 MkII* bayonets IMA used to sell. (I owned a couple) The scabbard also looks like one of their repros with shiny brown leather:

It looks very shiny, I noticed that too. The rivets on the frog look too new as well. I was wondering if they person I bought it from put leather conditioner or something like htat on it before shipping. You may be right about it coming from IMA. The scabbard looks similar form the pictures.

I got a good deal on it as it was with a repro magazine that came from Numrich Arms that I'm going to modify to work with my No4 Mk2 that has been converted to 7.62.
