    My L1A1

    Hello everybody,

I am the new proud owner of this full military spec L1A1. Manufactured by BSA in 1960 and in perfect condition. I think it had an FTR before it was stored and sold. Since collecting Britishicon military rifles for a long time it was now possible to obtain this beauty for my collection. I have not fired it yet, because of lockdown the ranges are closed.

I have some manuals for the rifle but I am looking for a digital copy of the EMER for the L1A1, can anybody help?

Very nice L1 Frank, Faz charging handle I see, you don't see too many of those.

Original barrel, or replaced during overhaul.

Let us know how she shoots..

You could try fitting a Hythe sight, the smaller aperture improves aiming in slow fire. Before the introduction of the SA80, a Hythe sight was a must have for the SLR when competing in Bisley.

Pop off the handguards and take a look at the markings, you will probably find the the same answer by looking at the left hand side of the gas block as they always seemed to come as a pared item in service.

Re ex crabs suggestion, great idea, I've got Hythe sights on all three of mine.

Took off the handguard and found the markings on the barrel. The barrel seems to be the original from 1960.
The idea with the Hythe sight sounds interesting also a Trilux sight is an interesting option for the future.
A new field of collecting .....

Excellent stuff, don't mention the SUIT, or 'Shooter Usually In Trouble' as our Peter likes to say!

Still, all part of the collectors period look, some SUITs shoot well, some are dreadful and there's no rhyme or reason to it!
