    SO THIS IS WHATS CALLED AN ELEPHANT GUN??

    Looks like U.S Marines there humping the Elephant with a MMG tripod legs sprawled across its back...............why??? all I can say he must have been a deaf elelphant

    Both the US Navy and USMC adopted the 6mm Lee rifle and 6mm Colt "potato digger" in the 1890's.

    Wonder if the Colt mg is still in 6mm cal ?

    Hard to say, they used them in 30/40, 30-03, .30 cal, 6mm Navy Lee. All of them would have been in the system at once too.

    Nope, a tripod extension. (Mainly used for firing over high hedges.)
