Yes, considering the UK has made an absolute mess of the track n trace system, the vaccine process has been a hugely impressive effort, and certainly was very well organised from experience yesterday. Only issue seems to be having to travel distance to get an appointment. When I got my letter 2 weeks ago, I immediately logged on, to book and despite there being a vaccine centre at the end of my road and 5 mins walk away, it didn't even appear on the list of available centres for me to book an appointment!!
To be able to get a booking within 2 weeks I had to make an appointment at a centre 30 miles away...(cooincidently based in an office building where I used to work until just before Christmas!!)
Other than that, I have to applaud the UK's vaccine program.

One point re the track and trace, I really didn't see much point in it after Covid was everywhere in the UK,too little, far too late.

Added to this, many people simply took the p*ss and carried on their normal lives knowing they had it, rendering track and trace even more pointless...

I do think the UK has done a great job with the vaccination process. They got the vaccines accepted and out there before the EU got off the pot. And the EU are still lagging behind.
My brother in the UK has his vaccine booked and tells me that the system is really well planned and executed. We in Europe hope that our Gouvernment's get better organised; there was apparently some wastage early on in France.
After demanding deliveries; they suddenly realised they had not properly organised for distribution! Disgraceful!

I don't know how long I'll have to waitto get the jab here. But I haven't been to the UK to see my Mum since all of this started; it's not easy when she was taken ill and you can't visit!

There does seem to be a reluctance to take the vaccine in France, I've had quite a few conversations with French business contacts over the last few weeks and the majority of people I've spoken too aren't going to have it!

Worrying mate .... That French mistrust off government "Man the barricades and get the guillotine ready" mentality is never too far from the surface it seems...

Why did countries who have ALWAYS in the past told us Brits where we were going wrong, including on firearms matters, and then do something completely contrary.
It all their faults for not trusting in the experts findings on all the approved vaccines and look after their own people.
They just didn't put their bids in early enough, now everybody else is to blame................Muppets!!

25 hours in last night I started to feel "funny". I didn't feel bad but didn't feel right. As noted earlier, I was feeling sleepy which isn't unusual. I then started feeling flushed and like I had a fever. Took multiple measurements of my temp and while they showed I was slightly higher than usual, I did not have a fever. Continued to feel this way until midnight when I started to sweat slightly. This morning I'm back to normal. Not sure if this episode was a mild reaction to the vaccine or something else. I do have a tendency to feel flushed in the evenings sometimes but it's after I've been working outside in the cold during the day and I was in a nice comfy basement family room all day yesterday with the exception of running for supplies.

On another note. I learned something yesterday that has me both angry and feeling a bit embarrassed. But it needs to get out because no one knows it's going on.

A whistle blower came forward two days ago to a radio host and informed her that the State has been stockpiling PPE at the State Farm Show Complex. He provided photographs to support his allegations and they are damning. The State Farm Show Complex is HUGE. It is obviously where the State Farm Show is held which is the largest agricultural show in the United States, possibly the world but they don't make that claim. The Farm Show Complex houses 24 acres (97,000 m2) under its roof, spread throughout eleven halls, including three arenas. They filled this with PPE last year while nursing homes, hospitals in state and other states around the country were experiencing shortages. There is currently 56 million dollars worth of PPE sitting in storage there.

The Farm Show Complex cannot be used for any other function at present because of this storage. It is used either partially or fully nearly every single weekend of the year for something, including four very large gun shows, an outdoorsman's show, an auto show, and so on and so forth. It has had every event cancelled since March of last year.

Facilities and emergency workers IN OUR STATE are still experiencing shortages as they cannot get them and the prices when they can are very high and they are not releasing the supplies. Probably because NO ONE KNEW ABOUT THEM. Apparently, only the Governors office was aware of the existence of this and he has refused access to the site by the legislatures oversight committee. It is estimated that the complex will be sidelined until the beginning of September because of all this stuff being stored in it.

Part of this strategy was to acquire a significant stockpile that could be used to assist healthcare facilities who were unable to acquire these products through their normal supply chains, such as we saw during the spring surge of COVID-19,"

They couldn't get them through their normal supply chains because the State was stockpiling them. PA isn't the only state doing this either but only limited information on it because apparently they are all hoarding stuff. California, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida all have small stories on their PPE stockpiling efforts. It wouldn't surprise me with PA being caught there will be investigations into the rest.

Don't get me wrong, some stockpiling is a good thing but the sheer size of this undertaking is what makes it ridiculous. And the secrecy makes it suspicious.

I remember watching the news and seeing the first old Girl get her Jab in the UK, only seems like yesterday, but now over 25 million done, I'd of thought the countries like Spain, Portugal, Greece etc would of pulled there finger out and got well ahead of the game, to get the tourists in and jump start there economy........

Same here, there's a vaccination center 10 miles from me, but, as the programme has progressed, it's specialised as a Senior Citizens and vulnerable centre, I have to go 25 miles to a local racecourse.

I believe there's some seriously intelligence led mathematical modelling going into the roll out, so we just need to be thankful dumb sheep and show up when and where indicated!

I booked mine via the online portal and it's amazing how it works, the dates and time slots change by the second, as people book and cancel, then rebook.

How it works without crashing is beyond my pay grade to understand ... Like I said, sheep mode, do as I'm told and be very grateful!

It was no big deal for me.

Yes, that what I think is the case here, as I was talking over the garden fence with my OAP next door neighbour this morning, and she had hers at the local centre, as she ticked a couple of the boxes on the booking system, whereas I couldn't tick any, so as you say, you have to travel further away.
It was no big deal for me.
And as you say, happy to be in sheep mode and be grateful, even though the bloody thing floored me over night and I had a rough night, but much better by late morning today.

Interesting to note the 24 hour effect of the vaccine, my mother in law was in Hospital for 5 weeks for major heart surgery, late Jan and all of Feb. See said that when they vaccinated the staff in early February, the younger ones felt dreadful for 24 hours (many going home) and the older ones less so.... Curious, I would suppose it's a simple immune response, that's clearly stonger in a younger immune system?

Certainly my parents, both in their 80's reported no ill effects, other than a slightly sore arm for the following day.

Got my first dose of the Moderna brew Thursday evening. Arm a little sore, but otherwise don't feel any worse than usual. We'll see what the effects of the second one next month are like. Best of luck to you all, and your loved ones.

Yes, it seems that almost all people over the age of 70 have had no side effects whatsoever, other than a slight sore arm. As you say, the immune reaction is stronger in younger people. A mate of a mate (age 60) was floored with it for 3 whole days, vomiting, intense migraine headaches, heavily aching limbs and bed ridden for 2 full days....
