Another 1942 set inspected and detailed, range ready.

Still a few buggered screws and needs a front sling band and screw and down the road maybe a replacement rear sight slider if I can find one. A bit of rust inside but it gets better the more I flush it with oil.. Bore is sweet. Bolt, receiver and nose matching.

Is that the original wood or an after market set? It is beautiful!

The butt is a replacement, fair match but not the perfect socket fit. Had to make up two shims from a cat food can to get the tilt and bottom of the socket snug. Bore cleaned up like new and has a decent crown, butt trap has proper complete kit and a 1942 original sling decent bayonet and dated 42 frog. Pleased as punch and it was part of a two for one deal #5 both with new canvas bags with extra slings.Broke out a box of fresh 1970's Greek HXP for this one.

Even a Monkey can have a good day.

    Cheers

Have a '42 No. 1 Mk III* with similar wood. And both bayonets. Always amazes me that the quality of a war time battle riffle stock would be that good.
Try Marstar for parts. Haven't looked there recently though.
