    8x on a 1903A3?

Hi all, newbie question and couldn't find a previous post. Were the 8x Unertl scopes ever fitted to the 1903A3. I know the weaver and lyman scopes were to create an A4 but wondered if the higher magnification scope ever got used.
    Thanks all

It was used on the M1903A1 to create the often-called "USMC M1941" sniper rifle.

No. The 8X Unertl has a total different mounting system. The 8X Unertl scope is a fixed lens scope. There is no internal adjustment. So any adjustment is in the mount which literally moves the scope up and down and left and right. The 03A4 scope on the other hand is an internal adjustment scope. The adjustment is internal and not external.

To show the difference side by side here are real ones for comparison.
