    Correct handguard today

My M1A1icon has had the wrong handguard on it since I got it years ago, I decided to get the correct guard for it, so I went too ebay and found one. it's a type ll, two rivet marked i0.
I was worried about the grain and color. it matches pretty good and is correct for this gun.
Now on the hunt for a ww2 oiler, it sure is hard to find an org. one and on ebay the prices go from $ 8 too $60 , I cant tell the diff but I'm sure the $8 ones must be fake. be glad when the gun shows get going in full where you can talk to those who can tell the diff.
Any way, here's a few pic. of my hand guard. Thanks for looking.

I don't know why the bayonet lug looks so rusty in the pic. it does not look like that in hand ???

Nice little folder. Can't say about the bayonet lug darkness, maybe just the lighting.

    Louis,

Stay away from Rollermillseast and Wobsfund... most are fake.

Are you looking for a II oiler or a IS oiler?

I see this IS that looks very real to me and still has some original blue on it. Seller is out of the Netherlands, so it might take extra time to receive: M1-Carbine Oiler Marked IS US WW2 Saginaw I.B.M Cal .30 M1 30M1 Original | eBay

Same seller has a bunch of oilers listed in his other items.
I see he has a II for $39.99: M1-Carbine Oiler Marked II Inland Nice Order 30M1 Original | eBay

I've bought quite a few items from Andre' aka Nenel3 in Franceicon. His items get here pretty fast. Here he has a II Oiler that he's asking $35 for, but I know he accepts decent offers:
M1 CARBINE OILER INLAND, II MARKED,WWII,US | eBay

If me ? I'd buy from Nenel3 with no worries.
BTW Your new Hand guard looks great and looks like a perfect match.

    Congrats,

    Jim,
I took the pic. inside with a flash, don't know why the bayonet lug looks so rusty/dark, it looks ok in your hand, I'll try another pic. outside.

    Painter,
Thanks for all that info. on the oiler, I have been looking at some on ebay that look OK ??? one from Texas and one from Reno Nv. $30 for marked IS. with the leather seal, they look like they have been in some kind of grease ??? hard to tell by the pic's. if I get one I will post a pic. and see what you think.

There's one on eBay for $30 from Texas that's fake. Beware! - Bob

Also saw one for that price from Reno that's real - hard to tell if it's pitted or just greasy/dirty.

For $35 0r if you offer $30 and he bites, you'd get a Real II Oiler from Andre' for what you'll pay for a IS.
Shipping takes about 10 - 14 days from Franceicon.

    Your Call.

If I wanted to spend $30 for an oiler right now, I'd get the one from Reno. It looks like all his stuff is legit - even notes that his Type 1 band is a quality reproduction. - Bob

Don't think I would pay $30 for an IS oiler, I'm with Charlie on the II oiler from Franceicon. 81mm on gunbroker was just selling real IS oilers for around $14 a week or so ago, you may want to send him a message and see if he still has some.

Eddy and I talked over the weekend. He currently only has 7 or 8 items listed. He posted he wont be back home until the end of the month.
He left Monday, headed up to South or North Dakota (Always forget which) visiting the Grandkids. We were laughing about me paying him double what some Ejectors I bought from him cost. Wife made the check out, I just signed it. I tried to get him to keep the extra $ and run in thru a Slot machine and we'd split any winnings. But nope he sent it back to me.... So he's Jinxed us....
I cashed it today and put it in my Casino stash. He freaked when I told him I'd run it thru a $5 machine. Said he only plays .25 a pull. If I hit 'Anything' I'll send him his cut.
The man is 100% honest to the core. I'm proud to call him a friend.... Even if he is a nickel and dimer....

Last shipment I got from Nenel3 was a 10 pack of extra Bolt tool pawls. Got them in 8 days. Quicker than some things I bought on Ebay the exact same day.
