Help, anyone live/work near Newbury, Berkshire?

Help, anyone live/work near Newbury, Berkshire?

I screwed up and bought a bayonet there at auction, auction house refuses to ship as it is a "weapon", local shipping companies want more than I want to pay to pick it up, box and ship.

Looking for options before resigning it to be resold later. Please PM if you can assist.

    Thanks in advance!

That's pretty crap that they are prepared to sell a weapon to make money; but won't ship it to the purchaser!

Let us know how this finishes up? It was one of the things that first happened to me when I came to forum, needed a small part and a member stepped forward to help. He purchased and mailed it to me...long time back now.
    Regards, Jim

It's probably current Post Office rules; when I was working we couldn't post Lithium batteries by themselves, however if they were in a camera it wasn't a problem. Please don't ask because I'm still struggling with that one myself!

A friend in the north east owns a 25 Pdr Field gun and does the reloading himself using a cut down .303 case as a primary ignition source; he wanted some more empty cases so I posted off 96 "brass tubes" as it was the only way to get round the Stasi who were running the place.

I bought a new Sheffield made Fairburn Sykes on line last year and it was sent by post (export) no problem. Same company sells cutlery on line all day everyday.
    It doesn't make sense!

Check the T&C's of all the delivery companies in the UKicon and it is easier to list what they will ship. Example wont send magnets but will send speakers. Go figure.

Hi Lance, unlike the US the UKicon has very strict laws regarding the shipping of both firearms and "bladed instruments", the auction house is almost certainly following the law as it is written so don't be to hard on them their hands are tied.
I know a lot of auction houses warn prospective bidders to check on current legislation both here and if abroad if that is where the bid is coming from to make sure that items can be shipped. I tried to buy rifle woodwork and a bayonet from Liberty Tree Collectors in the US a while back and whilst they said I could have the bayonet I couldn't have the woodwork as it was a rifle part and they were not allowed to export, some things just don't make sense at times do they.
