A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. It's a Savage produced #4 Lee Enfield Rifleicon for WW2. Here's a search result for many threads about these rifles. https://www.milsurps.com/search.php?searchid=22839889

The Enfields marked "property of US Government" were rifles made after the UKicon ran out of money to do cash and carry for military hardware in WW2. Roosevelt got Lend Lease past and the rifles made for the UK under Lend Lease went from the factory to the US Government (thus the marking), purchased by the US and shipped to the UK under the Lend Lease Program. Another little twist in history.
