Read "The River and the Gauntlet" by SLA Marshall. When the 8th Army was strung out all the way from the Yalu River to Seoul in 1950 the Chinese (the best soldiers they had) army hit them with 200,000 men. It was a complete rout , full scale panic, every man for himself type situation. The Chinese picked up hundreds of thousands of firearms and Artillery w/ammunition that were abandoned. The artillery pieces used against the Frenchicon at Dien Bien Phu were supposedly obtained this way. There were NVA units equipped with US Carbines in the mid sixties. Undoubtedly obtained from the Chinese via Sihanukville in Cambodia.
Imagine how much stuff was captured by the Chinese as they ate up the 8th army all the way back to Seoul. American 3rd Div, 7th Div, 1st Cav, 2nd Div and all of the S,Korean army? How many supply dumps, mobile ordnance units, ammo dumps, trucks and vehicles. The numbers of bolts, barrels etc had to be in the thousands.

Keep in mind that China started copy building in 1949~. Copied early featured Carbines.... Hi-wood stocks, Flip rear sights etc.

I have more information on these but don't have permission to post it.
My understanding is a Article is being put together on these.
When I can and if I can I'll then share.
