    Hi Brian,

Many thanks for offering your assistance, and will contact you via your website. I also appreciate everyone else who has contributed to answering this question. If my friend's shop ends up making these barrels, I will post and let everyone know.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Such a shame that Lithgowicon won't make some more SMLE barrel's given they are still a going concern, or RFI?

A mate of mine had a new LW barrel in his SMLE, and that needed an awful lot of rounds through it (750+) before it started putting the holes in roughly the same spot each time it was used.
Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.

The nos RFI barrels are available and they are not terribly expensive as I already said. Now's the time to acquire them for current or future projects if in need. Making SMLE barrels from scratch is a noble idea but why go to the trouble which will involve fitting sight bases on top of the list Bruce in Oz has laid out when the barrels are already available? Common sense anyone?

Personally at least I'm mostly interested in H profile barrels and in stripped barrels for SMLE MkI and MkV rebuilds. The RFI barrels won't work for H profiles and they will require removing the bases already there for MkI and MkV rifles on top of everything else, which just feels wasteful. As well as Long Lee barrels which can't be had in new condition for love or money right now.
