    Help needed - strange happenings

    I have a Mauser that shoots 8mm and I have shot this gun before without any loading or cocking problems

    when I took the gun to the range last time, this happened

    Hello, the Mauser is a controlled-feed gun.
    You need to put the ammo in the magazine or, if you want to single-load without pressing them in the mag, you have to get the extractor over the rim of the case.
    It just requires to press slightly against the elevator of the mag and push the bolt forward.
    If you force the bolt home without getting the extractor over the rim, as you show here, you risk damaging the extractor.
    All the rest, seen here a bit in a hurry, seems to be working perfectly.

    That's right, load them into the magazine first and let the bolt pick them up from the magazine. Even one at a time...
