    Springfield 03 scant stock question

I have an unmodified and unmessed with Springfield '03 Scant stock. It has the S in the cutoff cutout. I am tempted to inlet it for the 03a3 handguard ring but hesitate for fear of reducing it's collector value or commtting some kinda bubba crime. I really don't know if it has any special value as is but I have an 03a3 I'd like to put it on. What do you think?

I picked up a few scant stocks here and there because I like them.
Only one of them wasn't inlet for the handguard ring.
    So I wouldn't do it.

I think if you ever wound up with a lot of 03's at some point or another.
You probably would wish you hadn't.

The 1903A1 scant stock was manufactured starting in 1941 and I would consider it a collectors stock, I sold one for $250 with late handguard
and it was stamped RIA and FK

The "S" stamp means made at Springfield. Not sure when, but well made. Not right for the 03-A3 and will not look right. Gun Parts Co. has wood for sale, try them.
