    MK2 questions

I was looking at this today and really don't know much about it. MK2 marked 3 cut receiver and a tripod. Barrel appears uncut and complete. I'm guessing it was an IMA cut parts kit that was set up for display.

Anything I should look for on the tripod markings wise to determine when it was made or perhaps desirability?

    Thanks

    Hello:

The picture of the Bren Gun are not sufficiently detailed enough to make any observations. The tripod appears to be one of the earlier ones completely set up for AA use...look in the bayonet socket slot near the front pivot for dates, Serial Number, and makers marks. There should be a spring loaded release button for the bayonet catch and a rotating attachment arm on the adjustable length front leg. For it to be complete - there would be two legs stowed in the side rail tubes - they fit together and attach at the front bayonet socket using the spring loaded lock - creating a tripod base. Without the 2 part legs a rifle can be substituted by the same attachment method.

Gun looks like Canadian Mk2 with Monotype Bipod. Tripod looks to be a BSA Mk1 with later traverse stops and the blued parts painted green.

Markings could be EWS, AGE, BSA, CCM.

This is what I ended up with after removing the 3 cut receiver pieces. Tripod has a heavy coat of green still looking for MFGR markings. Previous owner has yet to locate the bag of internals and such.

So, it’s a monotype body with what looks like a monotype barrel and an Inglis lower. If you can’t see the tripod markings then the only option is to remove the paint. That area wouldn’t have been painted anyway as it would interfere with fitting the AA leg. Same as the T&E gear and bar.

To convert the tripod into AA use, i.e. turn the whole tripod upright which requires the extra leg.

Yes, or you can slide the #1Mk3 rifle into the bayonet standard and use it for the front leg. The front leg can swing upwards to be used as the Bren support. The extra parts should be in the tubes on each side of the frame. We have the pics here someplace...
