    Other obscure stuff

Thought I would share some of the more obscure military gear I have accumulated along the way.
This little gem is a SICUT survival knife designed by Keith Spencer and put into the survival kit by Bob Cooper and AFAIK was issued to the chaps in the SASR as part of it.
Bob Cooper instructed the Regiment on survival training in all types of terrain with what to eat and what not to eat etc.

The item is 100mm long and 40mm wide with a flat bottom with the top angled into sharp sides made out of high grade stainless steel.
As seen it can be attached to a long stick for stabbing prey or a shorter for paring, skinning and hand held for perhaps eliminating a threat.
Whilst it may not have the same prestige as the F/S when held with the thumb in the large hole and the index finger on the other part of the cross guard shape it is very handy.
They are a discontinued line (Shape) the same makers AKC specialist knife suppliers make a similar one for survival but it has a Tanto shaped blade.

They are not a cheap buy if and when they do turn up for sale.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle.
