An interesting rifle coming up for auction.

Listed for a UKicon auction on Tuesday 8th June.

Lot No. 469 A FINE .303 Cal. Presentation Long Lee Enfield Bolt Action Service Rifle. Serial No.30504. Std. Specs. Sutherland Rifle Sight Co micro rearsight. The Chamber with "Piled Arms" Trade Mark. The bolt dust cover engraved -G.E.Fulton Bisley-. The butt having circular silver presentation plaque inscribed -Presented By Hiram Walker & Sons Walkerville Ontario To Serg.T. H. Welford. 90th Reg.T. Winner Of The 1st Individual Prize In The WalkerMatch. Dominion Rifle Association Competition 1907-. Leather sling. Near Grade 1. Brl.30 ins.

Sergeant H.Welford is recorded in the Winnipeg Free Press, 29 August, 1907, as having won the Walker Match Individual Prize and $25 with a score of 68 ex 70. The course of fire is described as being seven shots at 100 yds, which would suggest that it was possibly shot standing or kneeling, rather than prone. Welford is also recorded as competing in the Dominion Match, amongst others, in 1905. The competitions, held as part of the Canadianicon equivalent to the NRA Imperial Competition at Bisley, were held at the Rockville Range in Ontario during this period. Hiram Walker & Co, the sponsors of the Walker Match, were distillers who created the well-known whiskey brand "Canadian Club". FAA Category: S1

Along with an Envoy, about a dozen No4's in 7.62, a couple of No5's, couple of No4's and a No4 in (commercial) 410 shotgun and a No5 bayonet, scabbard and frog.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

    Auction here :

    Scotarms

The auctioneers are registered firearms dealers and will take bids from overseas, they can also arrange overseas shipping and export paperwork.

There is a buyers premium to pay of 25% + tax (total 27.5%) so if your bid is £1000 you pay £1275.

900+ lots for sale, they have these auctions (normally) every 3 months but C19 has been messing things up for the last year,

I shipped an Enforcer into Canadaicon with no problems. An export house at Heathrow airport (PDQ Freight) specialising in firearms did everything. I just shipped it down to them and they did all of the paperwork licences etc.

Collectors source did the necessary import paperwork.

The pictures never seem to make it onto the website, they will be in the 'paper' copy of the catalogue, and they have professional photographers who normally make a good job of photographing things.

I'm not going to the auction othewise I would have had a paper-catalogue and could have shown the photo's.

Nothing there that I need, lots of 'wants' but we are still in covid restricted indoors numbers so I can wait.

I always like to carefully look in the 'box of Enfield bits' (lot 105) there are always one or two at every auction, as in the past I have found some 'gems' (Bought a big box of bits, and amongst all the nice, useful stuff were 2x original No4T scope mounts. When sold on ebay paid for all my days purchases and more besides).

Thought this would be worth a bid or two :

Lot No. 91 A SCARCE 'Peddie-Parker' rifle sight in its sealed carton with instructions on label together with a Tippings Patent extension for the rearsight of target rifles. Long Lee Metford etc.
