A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Just picked this beauty up on the weekend....

1909 Argentine Infantry Rifle
(Mfg in 1910 by Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken, Berlin)

This piece is an excellent collector's reference rifle for anyone wanting to compare for original correctness, so I'll be creating an entry in the South American section of the Milsurp Knowledge Library in the next few days....

Attached are some lousy pics of a very fine Swedish icon

Mauser M96 I picked up yesterday for $300.00 US. It is flat out mint ans 100% matching, even the cleaning rod The headspace is 0.004" over go. Last week I couldn't get up the cash to buy a different one for $495.00 in the same condition and I am very glad I didn't. It's a little expensive to buy them in this condition, but, I just plain had to have it. I can't wait to shoot it, but the snow is coming and might have to wait a bit. I'm sure it will be worth it. I can see my ugly face in the bore, so I'm hoping it shoots near as good as it looks-SDH

you fine gentlemen put me to utter shame. Hopefully my pockets will be completely empty and my gun safe full after the April show (A.A.C.C.A) in Calgary, going this long without a purchase isnt healthy.

Just received this the other day (purchased from Jean at P&S Guns & Militaria) and managed to snap a few pictures yesterday. Full original military configuration - in fact, this one is so "unmessed-with" that it still has an "unpinned" bolt ... and thus could be reassembled incorrectly, resulting in the infamous "blowback on firing". Needless to say, I will be very careful!

The "L S H" buttmark indicates WWI-era issue to Lord Strathcona's Horse ... which I think is a nice touch ...

I've been wondering that myself - though I suppose it must have happened with some.

Absolutely no sign of any rivet or pinning on this one, anyway ....

As a military collectable, I consider that a bonus. For shooting, I'll be very careful - or just use my sported M'10 with the pinned bolt - or even try the bolt from that one in this full-military rifle.

That raises a question - am I correct in my understanding/assumption that Ross bolts are more or less interchangeable without fear of headspace problems? Seems to me that the very close tolerances of the bolthead locking lugs and the corresponding receptacles in the receiver should serve to position any boltface in essentially the same place ...

Or am I "out to lunch" on this?
