Parker Hale 8/53 Sight Adaptor

According to Parker Hale these sight 'adaptors' came with a leaflet indicating what "corrected elevations" to use as the original graduations on the rear leaf were obviously obscured by the 8/53.
I'm looking to put an 8/53 with a variable iris and coloured lenses eyepiece onto a No7 Mk1 so if anyone has a copy of the leaflet (or could post the "corrected elevations") I'd be grateful.

I have one of these in the box and there is a sheet to it but do not remember what is on the sheet. If I have time to night I'll dig it out if not then Friday night or this weekend.

Mine came in boxes but no sheets. I use them on 7.62s so I've guesstimated the modified adjustment scale.

You have to establish elevation settings (for .22, .303 or 7.62) purely by trial and error.

The reason is that - e.g. in the case of .303 - although the 8/53 adds c. 550 yds elevation (ie the Mk1 sight is set to 650 when the new eye aperture is actually at bottom or 100 yds), you can't just subtract 550 from the remaining graduations up to 1200 - because the ballistic trajectory is different at the top end of the scale.

With an 8/53 fitted, you have about 600 yds of adjustment available (in .303 or 7.62mm), but there is no direct correlation between range and sight graduations.

I'm using it on a No7 (.22 calibre) so the instruction sheet gives me a starting point.
I've got a PH5A on my No1 (303 calibre), I've got a choice of a AJP 4/47 or PH 5C on my No4 (303 calibre) and I've got a Pecar scope on my Enforcer Clone (7.62 calibre)
The only possible other one is my No5 (303 calibre) with the standard 800yd micrometer sight - BUT - the 8/53 doesnt fit onto it

my experience with them on the No.7 is that you have to put it up to about 1000yds +2, i.e. 69 clicks above your 'normal' setting for 25yds

I was pretty sure that I have an 8/53 on my No.5 sight, I'll have to check now. Whatever it is, I love it

The reason these sights were developed....., so I heard...., was that for some competitions of the 50's, the regulations stipulated that the original sights had to remain. This was because some units would replace the iron sights with P-H sights. So these little add-on sights stuck to the rules in that the original issued sight remained on the rifle, but there was a small amount of deflection too, PLUS different sized eye pieces.

Additionally, some units didn't have the facilities to fit the PH sights to their rifles because it meant drilling and tapping hole(s) in the rifle body side but later this was approved. But the little 853 solved many problems that arose when using the Army No8 rifles in Civilian competitions

They are still used on School and Cadet forces No8 rifles

There was also a 'spaced' PH5 type sight that would just clear the rear body pad of the No4T with the aid of a shaped inbuilt spacer. The cursor slide that housed the eye piece was spaced over to the right by the thickness of the spacer. These allowed the use of the more accurate (?) telescope less No4T into SR(B) class. Has anyone got one of these as a matter of interest. I think I know where there is one or certainly the remains of one...........

Started for cadet .22's but found useful on .303's as well.
