    Just acquired Ross

After 9 months of going back and forth with my LGS we were finally able to come to an agreement on this Ross rifle. I believe it is a Mark II. The bayonet was included with the deal and looks like a solider put his name on the leather belt loop.
What is the serial number for this rifle? I am not sure the location. The rifle appear to be original to me, what do you experts think. Please post any and all information you have on this rifle, this is my first Ross so I know very little.

Congratulations. From what I can tell, you have an original Ross 1905 Mk II 3* no. 354BN issued in 1910 complete with the correct bayonet (un-altered), sold to the US government for training purposes. Both the rifle and bayonet have the "flaming bomb" US ordinance stamp. Only Ross commercial rifles had a serial number marked on the knox form of the barrel. The bore looks a little frosted, but otherwise, very serviceable. A nice rifle and bayonet.

Nice rifle, US markings over CDN. The name "T Joly" could be easily construed as a Frenchicon-Canadian name of the soldier that put his name and number there.
