    M1 carbine barrel band

Do you guys think this is real or fake? I’ve heard mixed reviews from this seller on eBay. If it’s fake can you tell me why (trying to learn what to look for)

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/174838800004?hash=item28b5345e84:g:bCkAAOSwKidg7fH O

    Thank you
    Chris

I just don't trust the guy, whether real or not. Seeing who's selling it..... I'd pass and watch for Mortardoctor to list one on Ebay.
Then I'd know what was in the picture is what I'd get.

If Inland used 2 Weld bands they must have been the minority used. 3 Weld bands are most common IIRC.
I see this one is a Round Face. I don't recall if it has ever been determined if the Round Face or Straight face was the most common.
These 2 Weld spots are well defined..... But would expect to see Well defined and Weak defined on any bands.
The few Inlands I have with Type I bands are all 3 Weld spots. 2 unmarked bands, 1 with upside down Sans Serif U.
2 Swivels marked Serif U.I. the other swivel unmarked narrow.
Plus 2 loose parts bands- 3 Weld unmarked Type I bands with straight face. 1 a replacement swivel from Northridge. the other Sans Serif UI.

Wait add 1 more. I bought one from Mortardoctor back in 1-14-21. It was without Swivel and screw, a 3 Weld.... But I'd have to dig it out to see if marked. I don't believe it was and Auction pics are gone.

About Trust...... If anyone Trusted this guy that Band would have been long gone.
I'll spend more on a Trustworthy seller.
I don't care to financially support Humpers..... Part timers or Full timers.

Thanks Charlie for pointing out a few things that look suspect. I think I’ll pass on it and wait to see if I can locate one from a trusted source. Unfortunately there aren’t a whole lot of trusted sources, atleast that I know about. I’ll keep a look out for mortardoctor.

Here's some that look better. The first one is from someone else's 226xxx Inland. The last (2) are my own Inlands.

Charlie: Tell me with a straight face what a "straight face" is - have to do with the welds? The ones on mine are barely visible. Thanks! - Bob

The shape of the Band's Front corner where the hand guard's front edge snugs up to.
Some call it the Shoulder. I call it the face.

Here is the one on Ebay (Which Sold) it is a Round Face:

    2 Pics Here from a S'G' 3,641,XXX is a 3 weld Square Face:

So the one (in my 3rd picture) is a "3-weld, san-serif & upside down UI, with a round face"?
I didn't get to watch the race, but that was a surprise! Thanks! - Bob

    US GI BOB,
Yes a Round face or Round Shoulder. Welds are hard to see, If you say 3, then there are 3.
#18 car got ripped off today along with Truex. Was light raining when they started. Just as Kyle Bush was leading in to turn 3/4 he hit wet pavement.
I had it on tv and was listening to the spotters and drivers communications on the computer, most all including Harvick were saying it's raining as they got ready for the pace car to pull off.
Why the Nascar track Spotter down in that corner didn't call in the wet track was crazy. I could see the light rain on their windshields and in car cameras as they came to the green flag.
    Read about that mess tomorrow.
