    Verdun Battlefield pick-up

In a previous post about bayonets I mentioned a good WW2 vet who passed away and left me some militaria that he had picked up when he visited the Verdun Battlefield in 1946. He had come ashore at Omaha Beach July 6th 1944. He belonged to one of the units that made up the "Red Ball Express" and stayed in France at the end of the war until the early 50s. He had collected militaria from Verdun and other battlefields. His house keeper gave me his collection after he passed away. The Verdun pick-ups consisted of 2 M16icon Stahlhelms, a Frenchicon M15 Adrian and several smaller items of interest. Unfortunately, he hung all his helmets in his open carport where it was subject to the weather of the Pacific Northwest.
Pictured here is the Adrian, a French 8mm and a Foug 'Citron"(lemon) M1916 hand grenade.
