I bought a RIA 418000 range with a SA 28 barrel. What would be the correct bolt and stock and what markings on the stock? It has a ww2 replacement bolt and a scant stock on it now. Thanks Ralph.

How 'bout an NS bolt from RI? They have the NS mark on the safety lug w/ a ricassio.
Or maybe a bent-handle NS bolt, you really have an SA rifle production-wise.

Hey Ralph... just to be nosey, what is the general going rate on a 400,000 s/n RIA w/ a SA 28 barrel. I saw one last week while hitting a few local shops. The bolt and stock were WWII replacements, and it was priced at $795. The owner wouldn't budge, and I thought it might be a little high on price. Wasn't sure... is this what SA assembled RIA's are going for now?

I'd say the rifle (if you have described it correctly) is about $100-150 too high. Obviously, prices can be all over the map, but I'd say a rifle as you describe with WWII parts in in the $600-700 range. RIA rifles with SA barrels are pretty common and it pays to watch. I saw a decent one go for $550 on GB a day or two ago.

Trying to find the correct NS bolt and correct stock adds up real fast. $750.00 THEN a new bolt and correct wood pushes you well over $1000.00.

...especially if the rifle is a refinish. If it is, it doesn't make much sense to dress it up with a lot of "correct" parts.

i dont use GB or AA auctions as a guide for pricing weapons. same rifle will fetch 1000.00 one week, and 500.00 the next, it all depends on how bad, and who wants it.
i say the 750.00 price is in the ball park, i sell shooter grade 03,s at every show i set up at from 650.00 to 800.00 , thats easy when everyone else has them priced at 950.00 and up.
a nice original rifle is harder to sell, then a shooter, though they will bring much more money for sure, you just have to find that collector thats looking for it.

I got this rifle at an auction for 500.00. It measures new on the throat and the muz. The finish on the metal 99%. This is one of the RIAs finished by SA. Should it have a SA NS bolt? What inspectors marks should be on the S stock?

Your rifle, RIA S/N 418xxx, can correctly have any bolt made prior to 1928, to include straight-handled casehardened bolts. It can also correctly have an RIA straight-handled "NS" or "R 10" bolt. Or it can have an SA curved handle bolt marked "J 5" or "N S" (without periods) atop the handle.
