    Unissued M1 Garand

I recently purchased through the CMPicon auction site an unissued 1955 SA M1icon Garand. It is a beautiful rifle. I do have a que3stion about it. It has a National Match barrel on it. I have seen National Match parts on rebuilds but not on unissued rifles unless they were built as National Match rifles. I am beginning to think this might be a Type One National Match rifle. My understanding the Type One's only had a National Match barrel on them. Any thoughts?

Hang tight, someone will be along who can help.

I think I recall this one..... Back in early/mid May?
Still wrapped in original VCI foil on the front and rear sight. IIRC stripped VCI in the barrel.
I'd bet it cleaned up to be a beauty.

    Pictures would be nice.

I've followed some CMP auctions. In my opinion they get very hot $$$ - too hot for me. I wanted to get a 10x scope for an m40 clone project, but they were ending up at over $8000. I can probably imagine what you paid for your rifle. Every now and again they get a 1903 parts queen turned in from a VFW or other organization and auction them off. Price ends up at 2 or 3 times what they are going for on gunbroker today. I suppose people are comfortable knowing the CMP signs off on quality, function, etc. and that drives the price up.
Sorry my rant doesn't answer your question

If you have some photos of the barrel markings and inside the stock that would help.

Curious - the last 8 CMPicon auctions for unissued rifles from 4/24/21 to 7/19/21 show no NM markings. Also if you search on unissued and NM there are no results. indeed a very special rifle eager to see the pictures.

This was the May 1st Auction - note the open corner on the cartouche

Nope, Can't be the one I was thinking of. I used a old link and tracked it back down. The one I looked at was thru Advanced/Completed Auctions.....

I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures. I have 5869326 with a 8-55 barrel . The wood looks almost new with correct DAS and proof marks. I bought this M1icon from CMPicon in 2002.
