    ID'n Swiss GP11 7.5x55 mm Ammo...

    Bear with this OF folks...

Just getting round to digging through some of my somewhat disorganized / scattered collection of 'stuff' and ran across this, with no ID'n markings, but based on the shape of the individual boxes and recalling another quantity of a case or two of 'loose' boxed Swissicon GP11 7.5x55 mm Ammo that I ain't in a position to dig up right now, I'd like to know if it's possible for someone familiar with the GP11 ammo to confirm, or at least suggest the possibility, that this is what I believe it to be...

Am posting photos of what I'm pretty sure is an example of a Swiss GP11 7.5x55 mm Battle Pack...

    Comments from knowledgeable folks appreciated...

I have never seen Swissicon GP 11 in that type of box. Maybe it is not Swiss made. But Prvi is in a normal small 20 round blue box. The Swiss GP11 came in black hard cardboard boxes with small rectangular yellowish white sleeves of 60 rounds. Inside the sleeve are six small white boxes of 10 round each. I guess you will have to open a box and show a headstamp.
I have not seen that sort of packaging except for so, african .308 ammo from SOG

Here is some .308 , not african , but similar boxes like you have.... the boxes are sitting on the plastic battle pack. My guess is non US .308

For the other readers. it is always best to write what it is and the price the box or package so the person that has to deal with crates of ammo after your expiration date comes up unexpectedly, or you stroke out and have a tendency to forget things... knows what the stuff is. At my age, I am asked to ID ammo that was from deceased friends collections found as words in the basement because none of it is marked. Also mark your reloads- they are components only stuff. Most do not buy others reloads> Best solution is to show a headstamp. Maybe the younger ammo guys will know these boxes, my bet is .308. We shall see...

I have never seen GP-11 like that, that being said I have only seen the later packaging as 72 usmc has posted. There would have been packaging before that though as originally GP-11 would have come on 6rd chargers (how it was issued for the K31s and earlier rifles) and I could see those potentially having some in that weird triangular shape. That being said it could also easily be 7.62x51 with 5rd strippers stacked like that as well. Sorry I can't be of more help without it being opened, which you are likely trying to avoid.

The M1A2 7.62x51 ammo is 100% South African, but I have never seen 7.5 Swissicon in that unmarked cardboard packing. Perhaps you could open one so we could examine the cartridges?

My South African 7.62x51 is still in the sealed dark brown plastic "battle packs" 140 rounds to each battle pack. Good accurate ammo non corrosive but berdan primed. Frank
