    Just google "Kar98 1917" and a bunch of info will pop up. There is a lot of information a available under that search. Also, if you post pictures of the rifle and the markings on it, some real experts on this site can better assist you.

    Was given by friend who found in a loft 30 year's ago . All parts working with firing pin. Any idea of value.

    I would guess at 150-200. That is just a guess with the hope that the bore is in good shape. Whoever purchases it is going to need to find a set of wood for it, barrel bands, screws and the front sight, etc. That will be a substantial investment to bring that gun back to original condition with it only having "restored" financial and collector value.
