    Trapdoor SRS request

I am looking to see if anything comes up on my 1891 manufactured Springfield Trapdoor. Serial number is 530275. I have also attached a picture of a number that is on the stock. im assuming it a rack number or unit number but I don't know where to look for a unit to tie it too. Does anyone have any info on those numbers? Thank you in advance. It is the Top Rifle in the picture.

SRS #1 book, nothing even close. You have a nice US martial stack there...very nice all of them.

I've never had the trapdoors but I was fortunate enough to have had the others, including a Kragicon School rifle. There was an about mint trapdoor rifle around here for thousands a few years back, way beyond what I'd pay. I stuck with cheaper 45/70 guns...

Yea I got lucky on my trapdoors. I paid $650 for the long rifle and believe it or not I only paid $450 for the carbine. I like loading black powder cartridges so I get to shoot them pretty often.

Also it is not listed in any of the books 2 thru 4. As the regular army prohibited marking of weapons the stocks containing markings as yours does are attributed to state militia units. New York seemed to have marked every arm they had. Hope this helps.

I just saw this and I'm sorry to be late to your party. If Tom is indeed correct and your trap door is a veteran of the NYS Militia you may be able to find out some info on that unit from the New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs NY. They can be reached at 518-581-5100.
