Enfield No.2 MkII fires about 60% of the time

I was thinking I might need a new firing pin for my enfield .38
If a shot misfires it usually will fire on the second attempt. Does anyone know what my first step should be to diagnose the issue? And where I might be able to acquire new firing pin parts.

Had similar issues with S&W K-Frame - excessive 'drag' on the Hammer (P/No. 24), issue resolved with cleaning up/polish and lubrication of said part.
Wouldn't hurt to renew the Spring (as mentioned above) while you're at it.

Yep, check different ammo -some has hard or dead primers. Is the firing pin making a good dent in the primer, is the bolt clean? I would take down the bolt and get a new Wolf spring and clean the bolt, then inspect the firing pin. Reassemble the bolt, then try it on new factory ammo and some old Greek HXP surplus. If you still have a problem with HXP or new Prvi or Remington, then look at correct firing pin protrusion and give the bolt a headspace test on a FIELD gauge. Is the bolt head correctly timed in and the firing pin hole centered & not oblong.

see this post and read your brass. Do not fire POFicon or odd ball .303 avoid WW I and WW II ammo that is badly tarnished or oxidized-- avoid sand flee .303 Too much click no bang or click 2- 10 seconds than a bang.
