REME in Malaya photos

These 4 photos were given to my late father in the 1970's by a REME veteran who had served in the "Malayan Emergency". The "safe conduct pass" is only a copy and is a part combination of the 2 sides as the original hasn't come to light yet. As far as I know these photos have not been seen online before being posted here.

I should also have some of the "Jungle-Green" uniform which also hasn't come to light yet.

The agreement that the Malayan veteran had with my late father, in the 1970's, when the items were given is that his name, the veteran, would never be disclosed. My late father always stuck to the agreement and I wish to do the same.

Working off memory, I think the original, full, "safe conduct pass" has some "cartoon type" images on it of what happens when one surrenders.

I remember the Ferret Scout car well, ours didn't have the top turret affairs though. They stopped at the first glacis after the driver's head.

This one is one of the open-top ones that has been converted with an extension to carry the turret.

My late Dad's, also late-younger brother was out in Malaya with the 13th-18th Hussars, but earlier in 1951/52.

When he was there, they still had left over from WW2 lend-lease stuff, like this WC-52 Dodge.

The REME veteran who donated the photos and, when I find them, the "Jungle Greens" was somehow "attached" to the Gurkhas because their badge is on the shirt/tunic. Whether or not all REME in Malaya were "attached" to the Gurkhas I don't know.

this WC-52 Dodge

He's leaning on my first section attack vehicle...doing battle drills out of those was much different than today. Many of ours in '74 were dated from 1951 and so on. M37 weren't they?

I would have described it, post 5, simply as a "Dodge Weapons Carrier" and according to google the post war version is very similar.

Yes REME/ACC/RE would have worn the Gurkha badge as part of whatever Gurkha Rifles they were attached to during the Malayan Emergency. Was it 2 Gurkha Rifles perchance?

I'm not currently sure. I may have the information but haven't found it yet.
