I've always wondered about the guy being dragged ashore. He's got a massive widow's peak and receding hairline that hints of age. Officer? Did he make it?

I think I saw a better description elsewhere but forget what the rest was.

I almost brought that up in the previous post. I have always had the same questions as this has always been a prominent photo.
