Why am I a sucker for destressed firearms - Rescue Gun

I don't know why I can't resist buying firearms that need a little TLC and home that cares. I call this one my "rescue rifle" it looks like whoever owned it before left it in the corner of their bedroom closet and let it rust up. It needs a good cleaning and de-rust treatment to get it in working order but everything is there, headspaces correctly, and has an excellent bore.

It is, yes yet another Remington 721 in 270W made in June of 1953

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I do it too Bill, more to test myself and to help the firearm in question. Then it can carry on life again...

It's an addiction Jim! I've got more projects than time at this point. These rifles with rust do get priority. I get this one in the boil and carded when I get back from my Deer hunt next week.

Nice save! It's a lovely looking rifle too and well worth the effort.

I do the same myself and it's always satisfying watching a rifle turn away from an inevitable nose dive into the scrap pile.

Also a passion of mine. Bubba the bubba. Done a couple sporterized ‘03s, Model 12s, a friends Krag and a Woodsman. Restocked my T-bolt and Garandicon too. Retirement is nice.
