    Danish contract Swedish M40 Lahti

Very short notice because I will probably own the thing before I get many opinions.

Spotted it at Cabelas today and it is on hold while I investigate.

Bore is excellent, no pitting, bright and crisp. Exterior bluing looks good but it has scratches. Grips look good. No import mark that I can find.

    No holster, one magazine.

With some negotiating and my military discount, I got it down to $900. I have $400 in points and $150 in gift cards so $350 out of pocket.

I'm not seeing a downside. Price seems good, I've gotten two other opinions on that including Mike from here. Both agree.

I've read they can crack although the Danishicon ones never would have seen the HP submachine gun rounds that caused it.

What would I look for and where?

Purchased. Took it apart and looked it over real well. Waiting on the many hours long background check at Cabelas.

Cabelas "instant" background check took 2 1/2 hours today. So irritating Anywhere else would be about 15 minutes. Takes them 1/2 hour just to process the paperwork after I filled everything out on their computer. Then it goes to the state and to "pending" meaning they have to look into me further. Been this way for 5 years now. But Cabelas has no way to contact them. Another dealer just picks up the phone and calls and it's fixed in a few minutes.

So we went to an all you can eat Chinese place and stuffed ourselves, then visited a nearby surplus store and got back just as they called me. Then another half hour to check out as they check the paperwork again.

In the meantime, I ordered two spare magazines, the cleaning rod and the magazine loading tool. I have a holster for it, the mystery holster I picked up a few months ago. Might get one that has the holders for the tool and cleaning rod but I'm just going to hold off on that for now. I'll get some photos up shortly.
