    Question On Gew98 Cleaning Rods

    Hi Guys,
I have been recently looking around for a cleaning rod to complete my 1916 Mauser made Gew98. I was offered this cleaning rod which is in superb condition however I have never seen one with the knurled tip. Is this correct for my rifle or is it for an earlier model?
    Best Regards,
    Sam.

I think it might be for an Argentineicon Mauser.

see page 2 of this SRF link. I show an Argentine rod pic. and its mark on the end -an anchor. Also a Swedishicon rod ( page 1) with crown mark on the end; both of which that are in found on some Turked Gew 98s:

I believe yours to be an anchor marked rod form an Argentine Mauser. Not a true Gew 98 rod. Close but incorrect. My SRF post shows a matching GEWicon 98 and a close up photo of the rod head: see Matching GEW 98 photo heavy - Surplus Rifle Forum - www.surplusrifleforum.org

Libertytreecollectors has one a wee bit closer but they are off a Brazilianicon Mauser hence a B and no serial number.
