    Scammed

Be very aware of someone referring you to someone else that has what you are looking for up for sale. I was contacted by someone on this board saying reach out to so and so, he has the part you are looking for. I reached out and was ripped off. Don’t know if the person on this site is involved in the scam or not. I was asked to send the funds via PayPal family and friends. PayPal does not cover loss thru family and friends transfers. Lesson learned.

"Friends & Family" is only supposed to be used between people that you know and trust. There's no protection with it but there's no charge for the service either; you can't have it both ways unfortunately.

Someone somewhere is constantly thinking up new ways to scam people out of money. I had a "phone call" the other day saying that £749 was about to be transferred overseas from my debit card and if I hadn't made the transfer I was told to press number "1" on my phone. I just put the phone down and didn't press anything because if I had I probably would have ended up with a £749 phone call on my next phone bill.

My grandson was supposedly arrested and in need of funds! The caller needed my cc info. But my grandson was in his bedroom. Guess he has a twin. I’m old but not senile. Hell is too good for these scumbags.

If the person is a member here and they referred you to this other identity for the item you purchased then that needs to be investigated by admin here and further more if push comes to shove and a link can be established that the 2 knowingly coerced then the police need to be involved fraud is fraud no matter the amount.
But the party who contacted you initially may be innocent as well being groomed, so this needs to be established and if proven then the police and boot them off of here but publicly name and shame them first.

Thanks for the post, but there's not much we can do without more information if the alleged "scammer" is a member of this site.

Note our policy which appears at the top of the WTS/WTB/WTT Forums and is part of our "Terms of Service" agreement.

To reduce fraudulent activity, we do not allow re-direction selling on our site, which means using our PM (Private Messaging) system instructing another member to contact third parties at a different email address than the one registered with our site. Anyone doing this will be immediately banned for life without any recourse.
Refer to this forum for history of past know fraudulent activities.

That must have been because the person that you were sending the money to resides in another country to you.

One of the good things with eBay is that when you buy something from another country you can be reasonably confident of either getting what you've purchased or your money back. You do have to watch eBay's time limit on making a claim though.
