    The cut-off remained during the entire production ending with the 1903A4

    Hmmm. Is there any record of the cut off ever being practiced during training, actively used in combat, etc? Just curious.

    It was mostly used during drill and inspections - no need to to stick your finger down and depress the follower, like in most bolt-action rifles.
