Took me a year to find my set. I was outbid on 3 eBay auctions before I landed buy it now. I checked every week, and never saw any individual ones.
Another place to look for a set is on https://www.vintagegunscopes.com. I was checking them regularly - saw a pair there a few weeks after I landed mine. They didn't last long. Wait...looks like they have some 7/8 in stock as I type!!!! https://www.vintagegunscopes.com/vgs...-ring-restored
EDIT: Shoot...belay that...they make you click add to cart before telling you out of stock

I suppose in theory one could mill an extra front ring into a rear one...suppose in theory one could do it by hand too without a mill, grind off the pivot, chuck one of those stones-on-a-stick into a drill press and work the width down till it looks right. Would need to check the width at the base, mill in the groove for the rear horizontal screws.

How did you end up with multiple fronts and no rear? Did redfield ever make these as "double dovetail" sets? Maybe somebody before you cobbled together with a double-dovetail base?

I just saw your reply. I have been able to acquire one and a half rear rings. The first was thought to be only the base, not the top, so the shop cut and milled the top of a front ring, reparked it and I couldnt tell the difference. THEN he found the original top! I had a commercial top in the base of one set that mounts my M82 to my M3 Carbine, so I seized the opportunity.

This shop has a lot of just about EVERYTHING surplus. However Jeff's sense of organization is unique to him, and him only! I got two of the three pivot rings from him and he still has more. The rear ring he sold me was sourced by a local patron nd HE only had the rear ring and no front ring...go figure. After all these years it seems sets of old rings just get lost in boxes of STUFF anf at some point separated.

What were the prices of the ones you saw?
