A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Italianicon MVSN (National Security Volunteer Militia) dagger. Pretty neat!
I think the MVSN started out as a pro-Royalist - WW1 veteran's organization, that acted to prevent Italy from falling into chaos and Communism.
Ultimately, they came under control of Mussolini and the Facists.

I like the look and condition of your dagger. Don't mess with the finish! (I don't have a clue on its value, but it sure displays well).

You can look this up by calling it an Italianicon MSVN Blackshirt Dagger, Youth Knife/Dagger, or Boot Knife. When you search, you can see asking prices north of $800, but do they sell?

My thoughts are that genuine specimens, as yours appears, would trade fairly at nearer 30-60% of ebay asking prices. Why such a large range and discrepancy? Knives can be tricky to sell. Sometimes there is little interest, and sometimes a bidding war erupts.

Here is one which has little remaining black paint and apparent poor condition blade with evidence of over sharpening which went for $125 before premium, tax and shipping.

Nice piece, looks like a vet bringback. Just the sort of thing a guy would pick up over there.

I knew I had a box with two knifes, but I never really looked at them. The first was like a Bowie Knife but smaller, with a BIG and THICK leather scabbard. Its single sided and marked NORTEX on the right side of the blade. Unfortunately, it was broken cleanly in half about 2 inches from the handle. It just looked like an old hunting knife to me. When I picked up this one ans saw the Fascist sysmbol I was amazed and immediately spent 2 hours cleaning it up. The handle soaked up 6 coats of boiled linseed oilicon. Im sure it cold take more before saturated. It was dry as a bone.

Thanks for the great info! I plan no alteration. I will only have 100% authentic items in my collection. THIS one is a bonus that dropped out of the sky, from where, I do not know!!!

My guess would be that the spacer did not survive with all knives, and improvisation is common. A rigid leather, such as that found on a shoe sole would be good. It could also be made from heavy felt. Make it fit well, and I think you will be good to go.

Saddle skirt, Latigo in common parlance. Just heavy leather.
