*FIND* WW2 M1 Carbine Leather Scabbard

I was bouncing around different swap meets and found a WW2 M1 Carbine Leather Scabbard that looks to be original. The aging alone looks to me WW2. Knowing nothing about these I was hesitant to buy it for $100.00 US. Not sure what to look for on the M1 Carbine Scabbard to correctly date them.

Any thoughts?

Leather looks in wonderful condition. Also looks like a Garand scabbard I have, is the length right for a carbine?

It's carbine alright guys, the metal shroud is short. The one for M1 rifle is long. I opened the pic in another screen and brought it up to 300% to examine and it's about perfect. Good catch Bill, if you don't want it for the $100USD then flip it for twice that...look around at what they fetch.

Jim, thank you for the help. I was so close to buying it, it looks like he got into an estate or something, I did buy a box of Peters 300 H&H for $5.00 he had a bunch of German looks like bring back odds and ends, even some daggers. I'm regretting not buying it on the spot but I'm going to contact him and see if he still has it.

Looks to be authentic, but I would like close-up pics to confirm. Reproductions can be had from $50-80.

Also, a strap is missing.

That is a good deal for $100 even though it is missing a strap, but I believe it to be 100% real because of the verdigris on the brass. Verdigris is supposed to be extremely hard to fake and get to look right.
