    Unblued 1889?

Curious if any of you guys might have some insight into this one. I got this 1889 several years ago and I've wondered about it apparently being unfinished metal since. I always thought it was just worn, but the more I look I don't see any evidence of it having been blued when out of the stock.

It is "P" marked, so I'm wondering if that is related.

I could either bead blast that clean or soak in citric acid to remove the blue, no evidence of foul play remains using citric acid.
