    BRNO 98/22

I’m curious about these rifles. Good looking rifles but are there any in this long bbl configuration that are chambered in .30 cal, .308-.311? I don’t have any mausers except for my two 1903 Springfields. Have no desire to reload metric. Thanks.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. No metric ? You are already using 7.62x63mm . The 98/22 is a 7.92mm rifle , but you could always just load it with .323 if you did not want metric .

The photo you posted appears to be actually a Persian Mauser, I believe the model number used is 98/29. These were made by BRNO under contract. A model 98/22 is a different earlier model made by BRNO originally for Czechoslovakiaicon and then for other countries, most went to Turkeyicon. Both models were similar and both were chambered in 7.92.

If you are looking for a long rifle Mauser in either 30/06 or 7.62x51 I can only think of either a 1895 or 1912 Chileanicon Mausers that were converted from 7mm to 7.62x51. A lot of info on them if you research them and a lot of debate too. I will say I own a 1912 in 7.62 and it is a great shooter. Hope this helps.

(Sorry not the best photo of my 1912 but hope it helps)

Thanks Patton, that’s what I wanted to know. I’ll keep an eye out for a 1912.
