EIC Pattern F Musket restoration query

    Hi,

I’ve just purchased a pattern F which has a few bits missing.

    1. Front nose cap
    2. Trigger and front sling swivel
    3. Two of the three barrel wedge pins

I have a replacement front nose cap which is a replica for a pattern 42 musket. Does anyone know how they are supposed to attach to the stock please. I haven’t received it yet and I’m just doing some homework.

A second question I have is has anyone made barrel wedges before just using mild steel plate, a hacksaw, hammer and file. Looking at the remaining one it looks doable but I thought I’d ask.

    I’m based in the UKicon.

    Thanks!

I have one and can't find any visible means of connection on the outside which leads me to believe that it was a screw under the barrel that holds it in place. It's been a couple of years since I restored mine. Can't help with the rest, mine wasn't missing anything.

Thanks, I can always epoxy it if the replica doesn’t have a screw.

Does anyone know how the EIC pattern F trigger guard is removed? Thanks

You really are challenging the memory. There are the obvious screws on the bottom. I believe there is a piece that goes vertically into the stock and is pinned horizontally. You have to take the lock out to access the pin. I think anyway. Again, it's been years.

Here's mine from hard to believe it but a little over four years ago, unfortunately, I don't think the photos will help much with your questions: https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=62755
