US Navy armed yacht USS Zircon PY-16

George Fisher ( Detroit, Michigan) built automotive bodies for General Motors and had a large yacht built for himself in 1929. In 1940. Fisher donated his yacht to the US Navy for the war effort. In Dec 1940 the US Navy renamed the yacht, the USS Zircon then installed two three inch guns and six 30 cal machine guns plus two depth charge throwers.

This armed yacht was used to patrol the east coast of the US during the war and sold by the US Navy in 1947
