Has the action body been re-numbered to match the bolt body?? Reason I ask is the maltby roll stamping on this one seems to be in the same spot like the higher serialized 41 dated ones I've noted. From what I've seen the real early ones are further forward. Moving rearwards as the serials get higher. I've seen 3 different positions now.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I don't know. I haven't seen the rifle in reality, but only in photos.

Ron, the rifle is an Italianicon L.-E. sniper, and the scope is an Italian scope (1949).

There was something bugging me about the front pad & I couldn't quite put my finger on it.......it is the lower corners - they are usually more obviously rounded. They are quite squared off on this particular rifle. Very nice looking piece though, all the same.
