    Norwegian Krag project finished!

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to show you the completed Norwegianicon Kragicon M1912 Carbine I just got back. If you frequent CGN then you may have seen it there. It started life as a typical sporter with the wood cut down but the barrel is still the correct length. It had also been drilled and tapped on the side for a peep sight. I gathered up the requisite parts from Numrich and sent the whole lot to Nick at Vulcan Gun Refinishing. As it had been D&T'd I told him not to worry about redoing the metal finish - I'll hold off on doing that until I can find a better, more worthy example. Nick and his crew tackled making the stock and handguards pretty much from scratch. As you can see from the pictures (they sent me dozens throughout the process!) they did a great job. Everything is right and tight and the finish is great. We didn't drill the stock for the cleaning rod as I don't have one and have never seen one out in the wild! If I ever track one down then perhaps I'll be able to finish it off. I can't thank or recommend Vulcan enough - they did an awesome job! Don't hesitate to contact them if you have a major project you want to get going with. Now, if there is enough interest, I may send the rifle to Prestigous to get some copies of the stock and handguards made up. Please comment below if you'd be interested in a stock set - it's an expensive proposition to tool up to make a set so I'd need to know if there is a demand.

That is beautiful. I want a 1912 carbine. I have a M1894 rifle and would love the 1912 to accompany it. The krag in 6.5x55 is a dream to shoot. I love these guns. Great work.

Just a quick update - I have sent the rifle to Prestigious Wood Stocks in Alberta. They will scan and measure every dimension into their CNC mill and then will be able to reproduce the stocks and handguards on demand. It's a time consuming process but hopefully by the spring there will be stock and handguard sets on the open market!

My dad inherited one from his uncle in Sporter config and I am debating blowing my whole budget to restore it.

Where did you get the nose cap and other metal if I may ask?

Numrich has most of the parts available. You can also find some on eBay once in a while.

It's still at his house but I took some photos last weekend and I think it's a model 1912 based on the 1928 date. I didn't measure the barrel length to confirm.

So that's good news in regards to the number of metal parts...but bad in regards to finding a stock.

Post the pics if you can and we'll help narow it down for you. The easiest wat to tell if it is an M1912 is by the rear sight - the 1912's sight is very close to the receiver ring. If there are a few inches between the receiver ring and the rear sight then it's a different model. If you do have a 1912 then there will be stocks on the market in the near future so hang on to it!

Unfortunately my crazy uncle reblued it so there goes max value but he did a good job so it looks good.

Pics will take time as it is in my father's safe 8 hours from me.

I will post what I have later when I can get to a computer.
