    Pinning magazines

Can anyone give me dimensions for placement of pins to reduce mag capacities to 5 rounds for the following mags? Bren, M14icon and AK 47

I had to reverse engineer them. Each mag seemed to be slightly different for some reason so I had to do them as each one off... I'd load in the five rounds with the bottom plate off and just lightly compressing the spring to retain them, turn it inverted and use a section of cleaning rod to measure how far down the follower was. Then mark, empty and drill for the pop rivet. You have just a bit of flexibility as long as six won't fit. The curved AK and .303 bren mags might be better using a curved piece of coat hanger wire to measure.

    Thanks Jim
In the past I have pinned several HP mags by drilling a hole cross wise in the mag, inserting a 1/8" dia. rod then tig welding both sides. It makes a near invisible fix. I was never a big fan of the pop rivet method because it seems unsightly and I always thought that it might not qualify as acceptable to the powers that be'

Apparently as long as it's not "Easily or readily reversible". So your way is better. I think that's all a thing of the past though with the new mag discussions they're having. Nothing that is blocked will be allowed. Don't know if that's in effect or waiting in the wings.
