Best books on these topics? STG, L1A1, Bren, German small arms, US Snipers etc...

    Hi all,

I have recently set myself a goal to read a new book each month on a topic I'm unfamiliar on or wouldn't have otherwise read about to broaden my milsurps knowledge.

Most of my current knowledge revolves around Britishicon Snipers and decent knowledge on British small arms. My knowledge on broader areas is passable but always room for improvement so I'm looking for recommendations on the best books to read on the following rough topics:

    Stg44/MP44
Germanicon small arms of WW1/2 (can be separate books)
    German Snipers
    American Snipers
    Austrian Arms
    Swedishicon Arms
    Norwegianicon Arms
    L1A1 rifle
    Kalashnikov development
    Bren Gun

Those are the rough topics for now. Ideally the books should be relatively easy to obtain and reasonable ish in price say sub £100 if possible.

Any help and guidance is much appreciated!

Collector Grade Publications but you may have to exceed your price cap on some titles.

I love these books. Eye candy mostly but a lot of good information in them as well. I have all of them to date and they are a good buy for the price.

A good read book on sniping is Martin Pegler's Out of Nowhere: A History of the Military Sniper. There are a number of personal accounts that inform deeply.
They include Germanicon and American snipers.
Have read pretty much all the books on sniping, manuals too, and still go to this one.

The series is an excellent reprint in English of articles previously published in Franceicon. A lot of information with excellent photography.

Yes they are. I did not know or even suspect that. Does that provide any insight into possible future volumes because I can't find any new ones forthcoming. I would think Berthier and Lebel would be noteworthy, especially since books in English on these are almost non-existent except for Ian's book.
