    Australian WWII Machete (smachete)

These are based on the standard Britishicon machete but have a bakelight handle. This one is dated 44 but the manufacture is not stamped deep enough to be legible. The first 4 is just enough to tell that's what it is. Appears to be unissued but no scabbard.

I don't think so. No trace of a D. Looks like a possible M which makes it MP for Marsden Products Pty Ltd of Sydney. Marsden Products were a Division of Lysaght Works Ltd. Lysaght may have manufactured the machetes for both Marsden and Die Casters at their Port Kembla factory.

I have a DC- 45 Machete with a brass throated scabbard, the DC is very hard to read due to the condition of the blade very dark, it certainly looks like a war time sharpening effort it's as rough as guts with lots of chips at the front tip area of the blade.

They are two totally different items sorta reminds me of the WWI U.S Corpsman blade

Yeah, you're right on the name. This is essentially the same machete the UKicon used except for the bakelight grips. Australiaicon made them with wood grips also. The seller is calling them that.
