S&W Victory Revolver Marking Questions (Canadian Lend Lease)

    My Canadianicon-issue S&W has a marking I can't find in Skennertonicon.

I recognize the "proofed in Birmingham in 1954" crossed swords stamp, and also the Canadian military ownership mark shown in the detail photo, but does anybody know what the capital "P." stamp (near the Canadian mark) is for?

Also, out of curiosity, what are the inspector ranks that are applied to the Brimingham proof date stamp? Online I've seen that there are eight ranks, with #1 signifying "chief inspector," but I've no idea what the titles are for 2-8.

I'd have to look around, but I believe I read that the lower the number the higher the rank.
Will add if I can find,

ETA: It may have been: U.S. Handguns of World War II, The Secondary Pistols and Revolvers by Charles W. Pate
    But I'm not sure.

This may help (?) a little:

That's a nicer property stamp than mine.

Mine also has a 38/300 stamping next to the barrel on the left side. Redundant given the manufacturer's barrel engraving.

    Great looking pistol.
