Russia's 331st parachute regiment take a battering
The 331st Guards Parachute Regiment had high hopes of being the first unit to come out of this awful war in glory, but now represents the disintegration of Russia
’s plan for a quick war.
The 331st regiment’s commanding officer, Col Sergei Sukharev, was killed in Ukraine on 13 March 2022, and was posthumously awarded the Hero of the Russian Federation medal.
At his funeral, deputy defence minister Gen Yuri Sadovenko said the colonel “lived for the future, for the future of our people, a future without Nazism”.
The BBC leads that from reliable sources over 39 soldiers of the elite 331st regiment have died.
The parachute regiment were part of a column that advanced into Ukraine from Belarus, led by these Russian airborne forces, known by the acronym VDV, with V not Z marked on their vehicles, with their objective being the capital, Kyiv.
It will be intersting to evaluate the most effective weapon at the end of these hostilities, but clearly the Turkish drone hase proved highly effective when you watch the footage of the convoy being hit as they massed together in a small town on the approach to Kyiv.
Sad to see Slav fighting Slav many related for what is a senseless war!

I'm just super surprised at how inept the Russian military is and how poorly their equipment is fairlng.

I think that the "media", in general, has over estimated the Russian armed forces capabilities and severely under estimated the resolve of the Ukrainian people. The average Russian soldier is clearly not on a par with an average "professional Western" soldier. The old adage "an army marches on it's stomach" seems rather apt in relation to the Russians in Ukraine, i.e. Russian soldiers are struggling to get supplies.

I saw a video where a Ukranian soldier was removing rifles from a Russian APC. The majority of them were MN bolt guns.

Be very aware of of what you see in the media and the deductions you make from that. Which part of the footage is real, which part is staged, etc, etc. You see only what the footage wants you to see.

FACT:
A Russian drone crash landed into Ukranian hands. They found a CANON DSLR camera in the nose as its main camera......................................unbeli eveable which does make you ask a question, have they used their best and now on the dregs of technology to achieve the aim right across the board??

I don't think the Putin's ideal of his military capability is anywhere close to the reality. Even if the quality and quantity of the equipment is up to spec'; if the troops lack motivation; they will not succeed.
It's such a shame that the Russian people allow themselves to be dictated to by crooks.
